TESTIMONIAL:
April 9, 1999
To Whom It May Concern:
After
testing a cryogenic treatment of cutting tools treated by the Metal Finishing
Co., MFCO, we have now started implementing usage of these cutters and inserts
throughout our metal finishing processes.
Our
tests showed a dramatic increase in cutter / tool life when using tools that
were cryogenically treated. During our first tests, we found that when A6 tool
steel, with a hardness of RC 55-58 was treated cryogenically, the life span of
the tools increased from one tool tip per part to a rate of 3 to 10 parts for
each tool tip used.
Our next
test used 3/4" end mills while milling 4340 grade steel with a hardness of RC
56. The end mills that had been cryogenically treated lasted from 3 to 6 times
longer than untreated tools.
In
summary, it is necessary to say that I feel substantial savings, in both man
hours and cost of tools, can be accomplished utilizing the cryogenic treatment
method provided by the industry.
