On behalf of the Metal Finishing Company (MFCO), thank you for your
interest in our services. Metal Finishing has served the aerospace industry
since 1945. In 1995 the company purchased the Qest Company and expanded the NDT
capabilities. Today the company is known as one of the premier "NDT Houses" in
the Midwest. The company holds several aerospace prime contractor approvals,
holds accreditation by NADCAP and serves as an FM Repair Station performing
in-service inspection of aircraft. We are proud of our accomplishments and look
foiward to earn your trust in our capabilities. The following is a brief
description of the services offered:
Radiography - A 300 kV dual focal spot x-ray system with
laser positioning is used to provide high resolution of aluminum, titanium and
steel components. Film is processed by a high quality automatic film processor
and interpreted by qualified and experienced personneL The company also
employees portable units for field applications.
Magnetic Particle - Two multidirectional and one
conventional stationary magnetic particle units are used to support production
inspection. While the inspection envelope is limited to 70", an AC/DC yoke is
also used to inspect large parts and to support field operations. An AC coil is
used for all demagnetization.
Liquid Penetrant - The Company employs two fluorescent
penetrant lines and because of design are not subject to size limitations. The
first supports aluminum operations and also includes a chemical conversion step
to assist in expediting aluminum orders. The second line is designed for
non-aluminum parts (titanium, stainless steel...). While both lines run Type I
- Method A penetrants, Method B & D penetrant materials are available. Both
lines have tanks to support precleaning and etching with one line offering pass
ivation, cleaning and phosphate fluoride treatment of titanium.
Eddy Current - MFCO is one of the few sources capable of
performing eddy current inspection for discontinuity detection. The company
offers design & fabrication of standards, probe design and technique
development for a variety of component configurations. This service is also
offered to support in-service inspection of aircraft. As a subset of this
service, conduct ivity verification is also performed to validate temper
condition of aluminum alloys. Both conductivity and hardness testing is
offered.
Ultrasonic Inspection - With the addition of two
additional scanning systems to the one immersion system, MFCO has virtually
unlimited ultrasonic capabilities. All three systems received both hardware and
software upgrades during CY2004. All systems have full c-scan capability and
state-of-the-art data acquisition. The through transmission system provides
contour following and 8 axis of scan capability The systems are used to inspect
a variety of composite parts, metal to metal bonds, wrought materials and final
inspection of machined parts.
Consulting/Training - With all of the inspection
capability, the company serves as a third party auditing, training and
certification source. All classes are registered with the American Society of
Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) and structured to satisfy the requirements of NAS
410. Our new training meets the requirements of ASNT document SNT-TC-1A;
the Association of American Railroads (AAR) documents
M-1002, Specifications For Tank Cars; and Appendix T, Nondestructive
Examination as invoked in Casualty Prevention Circular (CPC-1168) and performed
by an ASNT Level Ill. - |
